Lot's of "Forty Little Mothers" posters

Forty Little Mothers was just an average 1940 drama/comedy/musical released by MGM, starring Eddie Cantor and directed by Busby Berkeley.

What it did have going for it were several variations of the film poster featuring caricature art by the legendary Al Hirschfeld, and one by the great film poster artist Jacques Kapralik...

  1. Cantor, like Joe E. Brown, was an old time comic who looked so appealing in caricature, that his image remained highly recognizable long after his actual films drifted out of common circulation. His movies for Sam Goldwyn (probably his best on-screen stuff) aren't bad at all, but best of all they feature some fabulous poster representations... especially KID MILLIONS. And then there were so many animated cartoon guest appearances!

  2. It would be nice to see an updated version if those "old" Hollywood cartoons, where stars were characatured arriving on the red carpet or the Brown Derby. Lots of great faces these days who would be nice to see in cartoon form... Clooney, Di Caprio, the beautiful and the homely. DeVito, Kardashians- all human cartoons anyway. Your work has always made me laugh Drew. Glad to see you've got a blog.
